Ship Husbandry
Fuel cost is one of the major expenses of operating a ship. Operating costs can be kept to a minimum by directly reducing the quantity of fuel used. A ship uses up to 70% of its propulsive energy to overcome friction from the hydrodynamic resistance forces of the hull moving through the water, these forces can be kept to a minimum by keeping the hull and propeller clean and free from excessive marine growth.
Underwater hull cleaning removes the biological roughness or fouling will minimize waste and improve distance, speed, power and performance of the vessel; all without the need for dry-docking
When marine growth accumulates on a propeller’s surface or surface roughness increases due to aging, propeller efficiency lowers and fuel consumption increases. To lower fuel consumption, fuel-saving polishing, where propeller blades are polished to reduce blade roughness, is effective. Propeller Polishing will Effectively remove marine fouling / surface roughness on vessel’s propeller, thus optimising performance for shipping vessels.
